PARCC assessments are one measure of a student’s progress towards meeting the State of Illinois Common Core Standards in reading and math. The PARCC is required for all students grades 3-8 and typically administered over a one week period during the middle of March.
It is a very challening assessment, requiring advanced problem solving, analysis, and critical thinking skills at every grade level. The overall pass rate for all students in the State of Illinois is less than thirty-five percent.
The Parent PARCC Checklist is a good overview of the test and provides good tips for parents.
