Culver Update - 3/27/20

Dear Culver Families ~

We continue to think of all our families and hope you are all safe and healthy.

Here is the latest information about the coronavirus timeline, e-Learning Program, and meal distribution program.

The entire Culver team --Board, Admin, Staff-- continues to collaborate to develop comprehensive supports for our students and families. We are committed to ensuring that each student has the resources to continue to learn and grow.  We know that our amazing community will meet the current challenge, care for one another, and keep each other safe by following the CDC recommendations.

School Closing Timeframe
There is no new update on the school closing timeline.  Governor Pritzker declared that all schools in Illinois will be closed through Tuesday, April 7.  We expect that the projected date of return will be extended as further guidelines are communicated by health and government officials.

e-Learning Lessons
We will resume our e-Learning program on Monday, March 30.  Following our regular school calendar, we will continue to post e-Learning lessons until school reopens.  During e-Learning weeks, please complete the Parent Survey each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This survey allows us to remain connected, provides valuable feedback on participation, and it can help us plan future e-Learning activities.  Teachers will be available by email from 9:00am-2:00pm to answer student questions and provide feedback on work.

Teachers may also use Zoom or Google Hangouts to video conference with students. Teachers may also choose to use Facetime and Skype, as well.  We expect that these video conferences will supplement daily learning activities; the majority of e-Learning lessons will be completed independently by students.  We encourage parents to monitor student progress with lessons, including those conducted by video conferencing.

The e-Learning activities will be posted on our webpage at:

Communication
We will continue to share detailed information with all District families weekly. Please look for communication from us every Friday unless there is a significant change that would require more immediate contact.

Our building is closed in order to keep all faculty and staff safe. We are not able to respond to phone messages. Please email us with any needs or questions.

Meal Program
We are happy to announce a partnership with Niles Township HS D219 to provide additional free meal days beginning the week of March 30, 2020.  Here is the schedule and description of provided meals:

Monday 11:00am - 1:00pm:  1 Lunch & 1 Breakfast per child

Wednesday 11:00am - 1:00pm:  1 Lunch & 1 Breakfast per child

Fridays 12:30pm - 1:30pm: 1 Weekly Bag of Lunch & Breakfast meals per child

Families may take advantage of these meals on all days.  Meals are not limited to students receiving free and reduced lunches, and there is no income verification process.  The Friday weekly bags are quite heavy, as they contain lots of food. Please note - some items are perishable. You should be prepared to refrigerate or freeze items.
